RATTAN HEAD GEAR WITH FOUR BULULS.

Provenance: Ifugao or Mountain Province. This head gear is usually worn by warriors on the war path or by elders and mumbaki when they perform rituals simulating war or head taking activities in the olden days. The four bulols represent guardian spirits from the four corners of the Ifugao world: guardian spirits from the north, south, east and west, or the guardian spirits from the Skyworld, the Underworld, the Upstream region, or the Downstream Region.
