Atty. Dominador D. Buhain
Chairman & President, REX Book Store, Inc.

A pleasant good morning to all of you. To our dear guests; Dr. Lolita Andrada Director of DepEd Bureau of Secondary Education, Ms. Carol Porio, the Executive Director of Fund Assistance for Private Education (FAPE), and Father Gerardo Santos President of MAPSA. And of course a wonderful morning to our esteemed educators who have come from all over the Philippines to be a part of The Rex Annual Educator’s Congress.

As we all know, Rex Book Store started its celebration of its 60th anniversary last January of 2010. It is only fitting that we end our celebration one year later thru this momentous occasion. It has been six meaningful decades of existence fueled by the unparalleled commitment of every man and woman behind this institution to contribute to the development of Philippine Education. We have come a long way since our beloved Manong and Manang first started doing business in Azcarraga St. at Morayta in Manila. Despite several setbacks that almost brought the company to its knees, Rex Book Store constantly picked itself up and steadily grew from a small corner book store into one of the most prominent educational materials providers in the country. And we can proudly say that Rex has been an integral part of the lives of several generations of learners over the years.

However, Rex Book Store Inc. was never just about producing and selling educational materials. We have always gone out of our way to give back to the industry we love by working closely with various educational institutions in order to provide our educators avenues to learn and improve their craft. We have conducted countless trainings and seminars for our teachers over the course of sixty years starting from small scale seminars to large regional seminars.

And now we have come to yet another important milestone. The next two days marks the second of an annual event especially meant for our dearest educators, The Rex Book Store’s Annual Educator’s Congress. This grand event will serve as the venue to launch and discuss the latest ideas and important trends in education. It is a large gathering of the country’s movers of education to learn and hear from the most prominent personalities from here and abroad who persistently push the boundaries of learning.

The Annual Educator’s Congress is a product of 60 years of relentless pursuit to achieve our mutual aspiration of molding the Filipino youth into dynamic, value-laden and responsible individuals. For it is in our working together, in harmony and unison, that we will be able to achieve this lofty ambition. It is through the educators’ hands that our materials will be utilized to effectively transform learners and bring out the best that they can be.

We will not stop in our efforts to provide you with the most excellent materials. As our efforts are not for our own benefit but for the countless number of Filipino children that will reap the fruits of this mutual partnership.

It is your trust in Rex Book Store that allowed us such longevity and this is our way of giving back to you. The Rex Book Store’s Annual Educator’s Congress is your event and with this we hope that we will continue to contribute to your burning passion to uplift Philippine education.
