Atty. Dominador D. Buhain
Chairman and President
REX Book Store, Inc.
[Acknowledgement of personalities who are present] … Atty Rodelio Dascil, members of the Rex family, my dear friends—good afternoon to all of you.
It gives me great pleasure to stand before you in the midst of our booth, surrounded by books, in the company of friends and fellow book-lovers.
Book fairs such as this are a celebration of human achievement. We celebrate every book as a triumph of man over his limitations—a conquest over his limited capacity for memorizing and making his ideas widespread and relevant through time.
We revel in the production of every book as an accomplishment. It helps to be reminded of how much time and effort go into the production of books: Every page of every book represents at least an hour of an author’s life and a corresponding amount of the publisher’s time in editing, refining and ultimately producing these pages in printed form.
And so, today, in this book fair, we bask in the company of giants, who have devoted much of their precious lives putting their thoughts into writing so that we may benefit from the fruits of their labor.
It is in this light that we introduce one of the esteemed authors of Rex Book Store, to mark the launch of his new book. Ladies and gentlemen, let us all welcome the author of “The Amended Insurance Code of the Philippines”: Atty Rodelio Dascil.
